Epoxidation of Alkenes and Oxidation of Alcohols with Hydrogen Peroxide Catalyzed by a Fe (Br8TPPS) Supported on Amberlite IRA-400

Iron (III) meso-tetrakis(p-sulfonatophenyl)-β-octabromoporphyrin supported on Amberlite IRA- 400 [Fe(Br8 TPPS)-Ad-400] is a robust and efficient catalyst for oxidation of alkenes and alcohols at room temperature. The catalyst exhibits a high activity and stability in hydrocarbon oxidation by H2 O2 . The method was useful in the oxidation of various primary, secondary-aliphatic, alicyclic and ar...

Mass Transfer During the Pre-Usage Dehydration of Polyvinyl Alcohol Hydrogel Wound Dressings

Nowadays, hydrogels are widely used as wound dressings in biomedical applications. Similar to other types of the moist (wet) wound dressings, it is necessary to have sufficient information about their dehydration kinetics during the pre-usage period (e.g. storage duration) and also the wound healing process. In this work, hydrogel wound dressings based on polyvinyl alcohol were prepared by...

Oxidation of glycerol to formaldehyde by microsomes: are glycerol radicals produced in the reaction pathway?

Microsomes and reconstituted systems containing cytochrome P450 can oxidize glycerol to formaldehyde in a reaction catalyzed by an oxidant produced from the interaction of nonheme iron with H2O2. To evaluate the mechanism for this oxidation, the generation of glycerol radicals by various systems was compared to rates of formaldehyde production from glycerol. Photolysis of H2O2, oxidation of xan...

A Mechanistic Study of Direct Activation of Allylic Alcohols in Palladium Catalyzed Amination Reactions

We here report a computational approach on the mechanism of allylicamination reactions using allyl-alcohols and amines as the substrates and phosphoramidite palladium catalyst 1a, which operates in the presence of catalytic amount of 1,3-diethylurea as a co-catalyst. DFT calculations showed a cooperative hydrogen-bonding array between the urea moiety and the hydroxyl group of the allyl alcohol,...

On the mechanism of carbonyl hydrogenation catalyzed by iron catalyst.

Density functional theory calculations have been performed to investigate the detailed mechanism of the carbonyl hydrogenation catalyzed by the first well-defined bifunctional iron catalyst. The catalytic reaction proceeds by hydrogen transfer and dihydrogen activation. The hydrogen transfer reaction occurs via the bifunctional mechanism in which the two hydrogen atoms attached on the Fe and O ...
